Sharing your WiFi password is annoying — long, full of symbols, easy to mistype. A WiFi QR code fixes that: guests point their camera at it and connect instantly. Here's how to make one for free, no app required.
How a WiFi QR code works
The QR encodes your network name, password, and security type. When a phone scans it, the device offers to join the network automatically. Great for cafes, offices, Airbnbs, and home guests.
Step by step
- Build the connect link or text for your network (network name + password).
- Open the link creator and generate a QR code.
- Download and print it — stick it on the fridge, the wall, or a table tent.
- Test it with two different phones before printing a batch.
Tips
- Make it big enough to scan from a comfortable distance (at least 2 × 2 cm).
- Add a label like "Scan to join WiFi" so people know what it does.
- Use a guest network if you'd rather not expose your main password.
